As a regional nonprofit organization and an affiliate of the International Writing Centers Association, the Midwest Writing Centers Association (MWCA) was founded in 2001 to encourage communication and collaboration among writing centers in the Midwestern region of the United States, which includes Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota,Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Upper Michigan, and Wisconsin. Our membership is inclusive; administrators, faculty, staff, graduate students, and undergraduates all enjoy the benefits of their involvement with the MWCA. Members come from middle schools, high schools, community colleges, and universities. Not all members are from writing centers; many come from a variety of writing programs and student support services. The MWCA regularly awards research and travel grants to applicants from its membership. Explore the resources below, or check out our association's newsletter. We also hold an MWCA conference every two years. Our most recent conference was hosted by North Hennepin Community College in Spring 2025. Visit the conference webpage to access materials from this conference. Additionally, you can find previous conference brochures here. |
